On 22nd March 2022,  a function was held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi, where President Ram Nath Kovind honored the  Padma Award to various individuals for their outstanding contribution in various fields . On this occasion, a person has become the center of discussion, in front of whom even Prime Minister Modi himself bows his head. Swami Sivananda , the yoga guru of Kashi, is decorated with the Padma Shri . When 125-year-old Swami Sivananda came to receive the honor, there was a roar of applause in the court hall. Prime Minister Modi also bowed his head and greeted him.

Swami Sivananda is awarded the Padma Shri for his outstanding work in the field of Yoga. Surprisingly, at the age of 125, Swami Sivananda  came to Delhi to receive the Padma Shri. With the help of yoga and a moderate daily routine, he has been able to keep himself healthy even at this age. His dedication to yoga inspires millions of people across the country for good health. Swami Sivananda is a resident of Kashi. He is known as a yoga guru. He is said to have been born on 7 August 1896 in the village of Haripur in the Sylhet district, now under the rule of Bangladesh. Swami Sivananda says that yoga, Pranayama and home remedies are the key to recovery. Swami Sivananda wakes up daily at 3 o’clock in the morning and does yoga and recites the Gita in Srimad-Bhagavatam. Swami Sivananda came to Kashi from Bengal and after learning from Omkarananda and became proficient in yoga and meditation. Swami Sivananda was around 50 years old at the time of India’s independence, meaning he witnessed the independence movement and witnessed India’s progress after the independence. At a very young age, he lost his parents and siblings. After studying yoga, he traveled around the world for 34 years at the behest of his guru. He has traveled to London, Australia, other European countries and Russia. Swami Sivananda likes to keep himself away from luxuries and has deep faith in simple life. Swami Sivananda  still eats cooked food.
