On 29 th October 2021, a large amount of brown sugar for illegal trade along with heroin drugs and money were seized by police officers under the guidance of SDO Mr. Partha Pratim Das of Margherita sub-division in Margherita.

At around 8:30 pm the officers went to raid the suspect’s home and seized the bag of heroin, brown sugar and money hidden secretly. The suspect was identified as Ramzan Hussain who is a resident of Dehing, Margherita.

The amount of money that was seized by the officers were calculated to be Rs. 12,930 and the cost of  the drug in market is about 1 lakh rupees.

When asked to one of the officers he said ” Under the guidance of SDPO and OC of Margherita, a team was led to search the house of the suspect Mr. Ramzan Hussain who resided in Dehing TE of Margherita sub-division. Upon searching his house we had seized about 23.3 grams of drugs suspected to be heroin whose market value is estimated to be about 1 lakh rupees today. The suspect is being charged with NDPS act and actions will be taken accordingly. Along with the drugs we also found cash money of around Rs. 12,930. After investigation we looked upon his cases and got to know him as a drug peddler. All other information about the source of drugs as well as all other relevant information will be known after further detailed investigation of the matter and will be informed as the same.”

When the reporters asked the suspect about the matter he said, ” On Sunday’s three men would come to the old petrol pump of Dehing TE and they would give me the goods in exchange of money and we would return our way.” When further asked about the amount of money nd how long he had been working then he said ” I have been working for more than 1 and half month now and we would make a deal with Rs. 40,000 and would sell it for more or same.” He also said that he didn’t now the main source of the drugs and also had no idea of the name of the three dealers and they would only give one packet at one meet. He said that when he bought the new sim a month and a half ago then he started dealing with drugs. He also confessed that he didn’t know the name of the drugs and there were other two men he had known who were a dealer like him but didn’t reveal their identity.
