On 30th January 2022, Sunday, people from Assam– Meghalaya border protested demanding the construction of a bridge connecting Dhenarkhuti and Fulbari and reducing the risk and cost of the people travelling through boat to travel from one side to other of the river.

Near about 1000 people use the boat as the means to travel from one shore to other in a daily basis. Due to the difficulty in the transport the public of either side are suffering for a long time now. The MLA of the area Mr Wajid Ali Chowdhury and Maulana Badruddin Ajmal, the MP of Dhubri constituency had been informed by the public regarding their transport issues for a long time but there had not been any sign of movement from the government’s side.

In order to make their appeal heard to the right ears the public of the area came up to stand to protest demanding the construction of the bridge which would reduce their sorrows of transportation and their threat to life during the water travel. The public states that the MLA of the area Mr. Wajid Ali Chowdhury, doesn’t ever work for the welfare of the area but surely comes with fake promises during vote period. The public used a lot of slogan to express their distrust and dissatisfaction towards the government and demanding their appeal. The public slams Badruddin Ajmal stating that he’s only busy with his dates and attar business and never talks about their area and just comes for getting vote giving sweet false promises.

The public protest leader states that they were protesting as their government had been in rule for about 26 years already but haven’t even thought or glanced to the difficulties faced by the people of the area or fulfill their promise to build the Dhenarkhuti- Fulbari bridge to ease the problem faced by the public even when this problem had been brought up a lot many times by the people. They promise everytime during the vote season but after that’s over, they don’t even spare a glance over this area.
